Leaf lets about Saints

-

To mark his feast day on July 1 Saint Oliver Plunkett was commemorated with the Vigil Mass in Blackrock Church dedicated to him.

The church is named after the saint who has close links with the parish where he spent a good part of his ministry and carried out many confirmations and ordinations at Ballybarrack where a shrine stands in his name.

The former Archbishop of Armagh’s two main bases were at Ballybarrack and Ardpatrick Louth.

Two leaflets were also specially compiled and printed by the Parish Pastoral Council, copies of which were handed out after the Mass.

During the Mass there were two short separate presentations made by council members Liam McCallion and Philip Murtagh outlining the history and features of the church and of the role of Saint Oliver in building up the church in the locality.

A short tour of the church was provided after Mass and those who wished were blessed with the relic of Saint Oliver.
