The GAA pitch at Dowdallshill has housed many a big and unique occasion and Sunday last was one of those historic occasions when all three of the Cooley Peninsula’s senior teams took part in 1st round championship matches.

Cuchulainn Gaels played Westerns in the Junior Football Championship at 2pm, Cooley Kickhams took on Glen Emmets at 2.30pm in the Intermediate Championship and St. Patrick’s clashed with Geraldines later in the afternoon in the Senior Championship.

The Dowdallshill club had the venue in pristine condition and the brilliant recent spell of good weather helped to make it a special occasion. It would have been nice to record that the peninsula
