Liv­ing With Cancer Event

NECRET who sup­port the North East On­col­ogy Unit, in Our Lady of Lour­des Hospi­tal, Drogheda hold their an­nual free ‘Liv­ing with Cancer’ event in the Ci­tynorth Ho­tel, Gor­manston, Co. Meath on Satur­day Septem­ber 22nd. The unit treats cancer pa­tients from coun­ties Louth, Mon­aghan, Ca­van, and Meath.

This year’s event sees Pro­fes­sor Hen­nessy and his On­col­ogy team be­ing joined by lead­ing cancer spe­cial­ist and re­searcher Pro­fes­sor Joe O’Sul­li­van, Con­sul­tant On­col­o­gist in The North­ern Ire­land Cancer Cen­tre, Belfast City Hospi­tal. En­trepreneur and broad­caster Bobby Kerr and former Cham­pion jockey Pat Smullen will be among the well known Ir­ish per­son­al­i­ties who will share their own story of deal­ing with cancer and how they have faced the chal­lenge.

Ad­vanced Nurse Prac­ti­tioner El­iz­a­beth Sum­mersby will lead the Liv­ing Bet­ter and Well­ness Panel Dis­cus­sion, pro­vid­ing valu­able in­for­ma­tion on nu­tri­tion, ex­er­cise, fa­tigue, psy­cho-emo­tional re­sponse etc. A Cit­i­zens In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre spokesper­son will out­line the var­i­ous so­cial wel­fare en­ti­tle­ments avail­able to cancer pa­tients and car­ers.
