Post mortem af­ter Gosling Ter­race death

A post mortem is be­ing car­ried out to­day (Mon­day) on the body of a man in his early 70s who was found close to Gosling Ter­race on Sat­ur­day last.

The dis­cov­ery was made around 12.30pm at Gosling Ter­race along the Dublin Road.

The man, who has yet to be named, was found at a stream nearby.

Dun­dalk gar­dai con­firmed they are in­ves­ti­gat­ing all cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the man’s death, but it is not be­lieved to have been sus­pi­cious. A post mortem got un­der­way to­day at Our Lady of Lour­des Hospi­tal.

Mean­while, in a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, gar­dai are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the theft of an tools and ma­chin­ery val­ued at around €1,700 from a van parked at the Dublin Road on Fri­day last. A lock was bro­ken on the ve­hi­cle, and miss­ing was a DeWalt grinder and ham­mer-drill and Stihl con­saw. Any­one who comes across the equip­ment for sale, or who has in­forma- tion about the theft is asked to con­tact gar­dai on 042 93 88400 or the con­fi­den­tial tele­phone line on 1800 666 111.

Gar­dai are also in­ves­ti­gat­ing re­ports of an as­sault on a woman in her 30s along Ram­part Lane in the early hours of Thurs­day last.

The woman re­ported she was ap­proached by three men in dark cloth­ing, ask­ing for a cig­a­rette. They stole her handbag, and med­i­ca­tion. She was treated af­ter­wards in hospi­tal for mi­nor in­juries.
