Rent pressure zone called for in town
NEWLY Independent TD, Peter Fitzpatrick has called for a rent pressure zone to be extended to the Dundalk area.
Speaking during a Dail debate last week he said banks ‘should not be allowed to sit on properties waiting for their value to rise.’ He also called for local authorities to be allowed to build on land banks they own. ‘In terms of housing supply, Louth County Council has had success in the use of compulsory purchase orders, CPOs, for recovering vacant and derelict properties. This, however, is only the tip of the iceberg.
