Shop local vouchers keep money in local economy

-

A plea to members of Dundalk’s business community to support the Shop Local Gift Voucher scheme was made at Dundalk Chamber of Commerce’s annual Budget Breakfast.

PRO Paddy Malone asked all those in attendance to consider buying the new ‘Shop Local Gift Vouchers’ if they are giving Christmas bonus or other one off payments to staff.

‘ There is no better cost effective way of putting up to €500 in an employee’s hand, with no PAYE, USC or PRSI cost,’ he pointed out. The Chamber is meeting all administration costs and as a result a €100 voucher costs the employer €100 and the retailer gets €100 back from the Chamber.

By buying a voucher, which can be spent in a variety of local shots, hairdressers, restaurants, gyms, travel agents, etc, they can reward employees and support the local economy and increase employment.

Paddy also encouraged members of the public to buy them as they make ideal gifts. More information on the vouchers can be found on www.shoplocal.dundalk.ie
