Hilton goes soft

The Hilton ho­tel group plans ‘ma­jor ex­pan­sion' of its Cu­rio and Tapestry soft brand col­lec­tions in the year ahead, with both con­ver­sions and new sign­ings. Ad­di­tions to the Cu­rio Col­lec­tion in­clude the Reyk­javik Kon­sulat Ho­tel, the Porter Port­land and two ho­tels in Paris. Tapestry Col­lec­tion ad­di­tions in­clude The Gra­ham Ho­tel Wash­ing­ton DC and Rose Ho­tel Chicago.

Royal growth plans

Nige­rian Royal, Queen Cather­ine Ajike, has de­tailed am­bi­tious plans for a new ho­tel group with a five-star prop­erty in ev­ery coun­try in the world by 2026. The first eight Ug­wunwa Ajike Ho­tels are due to open in Au­gust this year and in­clude a prop­erty in Aberdeen.


Capita Travel and Events is team­ing up with Maiden Voy­age to show­case ho­tels that are cer­ti­fied fe­male friendly based on var­i­ous safety and com­fort cri­te­ria. The TMC says that, as com­pa­nies be­come in­creas­ingly aware of their duty of care obli­ga­tions, it will help travel man­agers make more in­formed choices when se­lect­ing ac­com­mo­da­tion.

Go Na­tive

Apartho­tel op­er­a­tor Go Na­tive will open three flag­ship prop­er­ties this year un­der its new Na­tive brand­ing. Open­ing this spring is Em­pire Ware­house in Lon­don, fol­lowed by a Glas­gow prop­erty this sum­mer.
