Memories and miracles on Where the Road Takes Me
MANY memories will be reawakened on C103 from 7pm to 8pm on Sunday night next 17th September, when ‘Where the Road takes Me’ will begin with the following words from John Green: ‘Good evening and welcome to the first of a two part pro-gramme on ‘Where the road takes me’ entitled Memories and Miracles’.
It’s all centred on the Edel Quinn Hall in Kanturk, which celebrated its’ 60th anniversary back in November of 2014. But, who was Edel Quinn and why do we search for a miracle that would mean so much to the people of Kanturk? Edel Quinn is titled The Very Venerable Edel Quinn and a confirmed miracle would see Edel canonised and from then on she would be Saint Edel Quinn.
Yours truly will be sharing memories of my time with The Young Ones playing in the Edel Quinn Hall also I will be sharing memories of my father, Neily Lynch, during the building of the Edel Quinn Hall.
The memories are all musical, as we bring some of Cork’s best known showband stars back to the hall to re-live their memories of playing to packed audiences here, during one of the most exciting eras in Ireland’s music history – The Showband era.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy a musical journey back in time, as we also delve into the life and times of an amazing young woman who is one step away from sainthood.
Oliver O’Donnell from the Maurice Mulcahy Orchestra and Declan Ryan, lead singer with the Regal and Arrivals, will also feature on the first programme.
The second part of the programme will be broadcast at the same time on Sunday 24th September.
