Artists sing the praises of community hospitals
ALL-STAR NIGHT FOR KANTURK AND MILLSTREET HOSPITALS
THE superb service provided by both Kanturk and Millstreet Community Hospitals to the elderly population of Duhallow is in a class of its own and on Friday, October 13, organisers hope that a musical fundraiser to support both hospitals will see a capacity audience turn out at the Edel Quinn Hall in Kanturk.
Organised by Knocknagree auctioneer and valuer John Joe Herlihy, the event will see seven well known bands take to the stage with the hugely popular West Limerick 102FM presenter Benny McCarthy acting as compere for the evening.
Entertainers taking part include Mike Condon, Sheila Fitzgerald and Mike Sheehan, Heather Sound, Norah Hickey, Denis and Christy of the Marina Band, Noreen Ashe, and Noel Cronin.
In addition, a DVD which was recorded at last year’s fundraiser will be launched on the night. Artists featured on this production are Noel Cronin, Mary Desmond, Pat Whelan and Tommy Lawler, Laura Dunlea, Sheila Fitzgerald and Mike Sheehan, Peter Lane, Barry O’Halloran, Billy O’Brien and Philip Shine, Mike McCarthy, Ger Healy (The Jarvey).
The musicians entertained free of charge at the initial fundraiser last year, as will those who are taking part in the forthcoming event. In addition, personnel at Old Road Studios, Ballydesmond, recorded, edited and produced the DVD free of charge and all proceeds from sales will go directly to both hospitals.
There will be a ‘monster raffle’ on the night and the event kicks off at 8.30pm sharp. Follow on Facebook at Kanturk & Millstreet Community Hospitals.
