Mindfulness a key element at St Mary’s
ALL students in St Mary’s will be exposed this year to training in Mindfulness, as part of the new Wellbeing programme which is being introduced into schools this September.
Mindfulness is a way of being in the present moment with kindness, curiosity and compassion. It is the art of bringing attention to our thoughts, feelings and actions as they arise.
Ms Aedamur Kelly is a guidance counsellor and also a trained Mindfulness teacher. She will be facilitating six weeks of the .b (pronounced dot be), ‘Mindfulness in Schools’ Project to all year groups over the course of the first term. The programme aims to give students a life skill, which helps them to feel happier, calmer and more fulfilled, to get on better with others, to help students to concentrate and learn better and to help them to cope with stress and anxiety.
Also, tonight, Thursday, September 28, St Mary’s is holding the annual Open Evening from 6pm to 8.30pm for those currrently considering what secondary school to attend.
