MAL­LOW Health Week starts this Fri­day, Septem­ber 29 with a ki­ne­si­ol­ogy work­shop by Sheila O’Han­lon which is be­ing or­gan­ised by CAN TALK can­cer sup­port group.

Places are lim­ited and can be booked by con­tact­ing 089-2390863.

On Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 3 there is a talk on Os­teo­poro­sis and Bone Health in Mal­low Li­brary by Se­nior phys­io­ther­a­pist Pa­tri­cia Mor­ris­roe from 10.30am to 12noon and also on Tues­day there is a talk in Mal­low Day Care Cen­tre from 3.30pm -4.30pm on ‘Over the Counter Med­i­ca­tion’ from Mulc­ahy’s Phar­macy.

A men­tal health fo­rum will take place from 10am -12noon on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 4 in the Mercy Cen­tre, which is an in­for­mal dis­cus­sion about men­tal health is­sues with Noel Par­sons HSE.

The Marie Keat­ing mo­bile unit will also be avail­able from 10am to 3pm. This is a ser­vice which pro­vides in­for­ma­tion about can­cer prevention and in­for­ma­tion with the venue to be con­firmed.

On Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 5 there is a host­ing a LGBT aware­ness talk by Kate Moyni­han from LINC for tran­si­tion years in the Hiber­nian Ho­tel from 10am to 12noon. Kate Moyni­han is also go­ing to do a talk in the evening of Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 5 from 7pm to 9pm in the Hiber­nian Ho­tel for par­ents around LGBT is­sues.

On Fri­day, men’s health checks will take place in Mal­low Co- Op from 10am to 1pm with public health nurses who will do a blood pres­sure check, risk as­sess­ment in terms of di­a­betes etc.

There is no cost for events tak­ing place over health week.
