Knock­na­gree GAA cham­pi­ons pre­pare to do bat­tle - on stage


FOOT­BALL and the up­com­ing Lip Sync Bat­tle fundraiser is all the rage in Knock­na­gree right now, ahead of a gala night on Fri­day, Novem­ber 17.

Power and pace was enough to gather Knock­na­gree a series of im­pres­sive wins out­doors that earned a date against the Water­ford cham­pi­ons in a Mun­ster Club Ju­nior Foot­ball semi-fi­nal on Sun­day week. How­ever, many of those tak­ing the field will demon­strate their ver­sa­til­ity on stage at the Knock­na­gree GAA Lip Sync Bat­tle in the INEC, Kil­lar­ney.

Based on the con­cept of the hit US TV show, Lip Sync Bat­tle, the show gives per­form­ers the chance to take to the stage and per­form as an iconic mu­sic leg­end.

There will be so­los, duets and groups on the night, with the con­tes­tants tricked out in cos­tume to get as close as they can to the real thing. Every­one tak­ing part is un­der­go­ing in­ten­sive training at the mo­ment and will be ready for their once in a life­time rou­tine.

Con­tes­tants will per­form a range of well-known hits by artists in­clud­ing The Spice Girls, Jay Z, Bey­oncé, Tay­lor Swift, Abba, Queen and many more.

GAA club sec­re­tary Don­n­cha Hickie said there will be a to­tal of 12 acts com­pet­ing on the night, which prom­ises an oc­ca­sion of fun and laugh­ter with plenty of sur­prises.

“Over 40 par­tic­i­pants from Knock­na­gree and be­yond will be dis­play­ing their tal­ents on the stage in the INEC. The par­tic­i­pants are hon­ing their Lip Sync skills, with in­tense training now at an ad­vanced stage”, he said.

Knock­na­gree GAA are or­gan­is­ing “Knock­na­gree Does Lip Sync” in con­junc­tion with KR Events.

“This prom­ises to be a fun and ex­cit­ing event with lots of craic on the night, we ex­pect huge in­ter­est in the stag­ing given the feed­back re­ceived to­date”, said Don­n­cha.

Pro­ceeds from the host­ing goes to­wards on­go­ing de­vel­op­ment work.

Knock­na­gree play­ers Fintan O’Con­nor, Matthew Dil­worth and Donough Moyni­han per­form as Ghost­busters in the Knock­na­gree GAA Does Lip Sync.
