Knocknagree GAA champions prepare to do battle - on stage
FOOTBALL and the upcoming Lip Sync Battle fundraiser is all the rage in Knocknagree right now, ahead of a gala night on Friday, November 17.
Power and pace was enough to gather Knocknagree a series of impressive wins outdoors that earned a date against the Waterford champions in a Munster Club Junior Football semi-final on Sunday week. However, many of those taking the field will demonstrate their versatility on stage at the Knocknagree GAA Lip Sync Battle in the INEC, Killarney.
Based on the concept of the hit US TV show, Lip Sync Battle, the show gives performers the chance to take to the stage and perform as an iconic music legend.
There will be solos, duets and groups on the night, with the contestants tricked out in costume to get as close as they can to the real thing. Everyone taking part is undergoing intensive training at the moment and will be ready for their once in a lifetime routine.
Contestants will perform a range of well-known hits by artists including The Spice Girls, Jay Z, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Abba, Queen and many more.
GAA club secretary Donncha Hickie said there will be a total of 12 acts competing on the night, which promises an occasion of fun and laughter with plenty of surprises.
“Over 40 participants from Knocknagree and beyond will be displaying their talents on the stage in the INEC. The participants are honing their Lip Sync skills, with intense training now at an advanced stage”, he said.
Knocknagree GAA are organising “Knocknagree Does Lip Sync” in conjunction with KR Events.
“This promises to be a fun and exciting event with lots of craic on the night, we expect huge interest in the staging given the feedback received todate”, said Donncha.
Proceeds from the hosting goes towards ongoing development work.
Knocknagree players Fintan O’Connor, Matthew Dilworth and Donough Moynihan perform as Ghostbusters in the Knocknagree GAA Does Lip Sync.
RAINING MEN: Eoghan McSweeney, Karl Daly and Paul Fleming.
