Dromtariffe make debut against Kanturk
ROUND 2 of The Corkman U-21 ‘B’ Football Championship sees Dromtarife host Kanturk on Saturday.
First time out, Kanturk came up short on a defeat to Kiskeam following a frustrating hour. Kanturk are sure to benefit from the outing, boosted by the efforts of Jordan Fullerton, Darren O’Sullivan, Christopher Mullane, Paul and Ryan Walsh.
For their part, Dromtariffe make their seasonal debut and that may prove a hindrance. Last season, Dromtariffe landed both divisional and county honours in the C grade.
The Dromtariffe side is pretty formidable, built around Conor O’Callaghan, Jack Murphy, Tomás Howard, Evan Murphy and Eanna Mernagh. Dromtariffe possess a capable side that will take stopping yet Kanturk will strive might and main to erase the disappointment of the previous round.
Duarigle Gaels face up to Robert Emmets on Wednesday night, both sides attempting to bounce back from first round defeats. As defending champions, Emmets will be keen to maintain an interest but they will need to improve after conceding four goals to Knocknagree.
Emmets will look to the Brownes, Cian Crowley and Ryan O’Keeffe for encouragement. Opponents Duarigle Gaels handed 1-2 without reply to Boherbue in the closing minutes to lose by the minimum of margins. That collapse is sure to rouse the Cullen and Millstreet representation under the leadership of Shane Hickey, Danny Buckley, Colm O’Leary and Colin Walsh.
Not too much is expected between the pair, Duarigle Gaels might be just ahead at the finish.
From the C grade with the preliminary rounds operating on a round robin league, St. Peters are pitted against Croke Rovers while the Ballydesmond and Lyre clash is deferred a week.
