OLD TIME CRAFTS

-

CHARLEVILLE Show is far more than just an agricultural show, it’s also an exhibition of rural living and heritage, with fantastic displays and novelty events taking place each year.

The Vintage Section at Charleville Show has a reputation as one of the largest vintage shows in Ireland and the “one” to be at.

This year promises to be at its best. A little more concentration is to be given to the working arena to create a buzzing atmosphere with timber sawing driven by steam engine and steam driven stone crusher.

Of course, not to be outdone we will have old time threshing and baling in operation. Beet pulping and wood carving will also feature. These will be backed up by numerous stationary engines and displays of old time machinery.

Not to be outdone we also have a massive display of other makes and models of cars and tractors from far and nearby individual people and representing clubs such as Cortina Mercedes NSU Mini Nenagh Killkenny Shrule Duhallow Limerick Clare Kerry Cork Tipperary and Waterford our local Charleville club to name a few.

We also will have a fine display of trucks and have some newly restored vehicles using Charleville as their first outing are bound to create a stir of interest.

Finally, and not least, we remember the late Dick Bradley with a perpetual memorial cup presented by the Bradley family to a friend who has supported us and him for many a vintage year.

The vintage section is not to be missed.

The Old Time Crafts is always a great attraction at the show with displays such as Basket Making, Wood Turning,Weaving, Coppersmith, Thatcher, Glass Crafts, Stone Carving, Butter Making in this section and can be enjoyed by young and old.

This section is enjoyed by young and old every year.

AS well as country music star Mike English performing on Sunday, Charleville show will also feature musicians from Craobh and Rath Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, who are noe firm favourites in the Charleville area.

Look out also for members of Macra na Feirme, who never fail to entertain, and inform, with their various offerings at the show each year.
