A mixed week of outcomes for the Ballygibli­n hurlers

BALLYGIBLI­N’S hurlers had three games in blistering heat during the past week. They won two and lost one. The Under-21 ‘A’ hurlers had a 1-20 to 1-14 win over Kilshannig at Castletown­roche. The sides were level on a number of occasions, with Kilshannig 0-9 to 0-8 clear at the break. In the end, Ballygibli­n emerged winners by a six-point margin.

The scorers for Ballygibli­n were: George Pendle, 1-8 (0-6f, 0-1 ‘65’); Cathal O’Mahony, 0-7; Mark Keane, 0-3; Cathal O’Sullivan, 0-1; Dylan Reidy-Price, 0-1. The team was: Jody Finn, Seamus Coleman, John O’Donoghue, Colin Brennock, Lorcan Finn, Mark Keane, James Mullins, Dylan Reidy-Price, Sean O’Sullivan, Cathal O’Mahony, George Pendle, Cathal O’Sullivan, Kieran O’Doherty, Aidan Donegan, and Christy O’Sullivan. Adam Gubbins came on for Kieran O’Doherty. Ballygibli­n have yet to play Fermoy and Kilara in the round-robin Under-21 ‘A’ Hurling Championsh­ip

On Thursday, Ballygibli­n Junior A hurlers had a very good win over Kilshannig in a vital Division One Hurling League game at Glantane. Mark Keane was in great scoring form, accounting for 1-14 of the winners’ tally. The final score was 1-24 to 2- 18. Other scores for Ballygibli­n were Sean O’Sullivan, 0-4; Cathal O’Mahony, 0-2; George Pendle, 0-2; Dylan Reidy-Price, 0-1; and Michael Walsh, 0-1. The team was: Christophe­r Noonan, Greg Carroll, John O’Donoghue, Paul Seymour, Lorcan Finn, Barry Coffey, James Mullins, Eoin Burke, Sean O’Sullivan, Michael Walsh, Pat Molloy, Mark Keane, Dylan Reidy-Price, Shane Beston, Cathal O’Mahony. The subs used were: Aidan Donegan for Shane Beston; Cathal O’Sullivan for Lorcan Finn (blood substituti­on); Lorcan Finn for Cathal O’Sullivan; Dean Barry for James Mullins (injury); Fionn Herlihy for John O’Donoghue; and George Pendle for Pat Molloy.

On Saturday evening Dromina were visitors to Ballygibli­n for a Division One Hurling League game. Another close contest took place, with little between two evenly matches sides. Dromina had a goal from a penalty in the 50th minute, helping them to win by 1-14 to 0-15. The scorers were: Cathal O’Mahony, 0-6; Mark Keane, 0-6 (0-4f ); Cathal O’Sullivan, 0-1; Dylan Reidy-Price, 0-1; Dean Barry, 0-1.
