Cannabis seized in Kan­turk search

ON Mon­day morn­ing, Gar­dai from Mal­low armed with a search war­rant seized sus­pected cannabis herb with an es­ti­mated value of just shy of €6,000 from a house in the Kan­turk re­gion.

At ap­prox­i­mately 8am, Gar­dai ex­e­cuted the search war­rant and dur­ing their search dis­cov­ered five cannabis plants worth an es­ti­mated €4,000 and cannabis herb worth €1,900. Both have now been sent for anal­y­sis.

No ar­rests were made and the in­ves­ti­ga­tion is “on­go­ing”, ac­cord­ing to gar­dai.

In a sep­a­rate in­ci­dent, gar­daí in Cobh ar­rested two men in their 30s and seized €9000 worth of sus­pected cannabis plants fol­low­ing a search at a house in Mi­dle­ton on Satur­day, Novem­ber 3. Both men were de­tained at Cobh Garda Sta­tion un­der Sec­tion 4 of the Crim­i­nal Jus­tice Act 1984 and have since been re­leased with­out charge. A file will in turn be be pre­pared for the DPP.
