Aubane steppin’ it out again
AUBANE Community Centre has seen its fair share of dancing over the past number of years.
And with that considered, it’s probably no surprise that its latest Afternoon Tea Dance staging saw a large attendance convene.
To strains of music from Pat Bucke, the dancers tripped the light fantastic with plenty of quicksteps, foxtrots and a waltz or two.
It had to be said that the event left patrons satisfied, much to the delight of Aubane Social Club Chairman John F Kelleher.
“We’re thrilled by the response,” he said.
“Where else could you go on a damp and dreary November afternoon and meet up with your friends and dance to some fabulous music.”
Aubane is more associated with its weekly set dancing on Monday nights, which often sees patrons drawn from Duhallow, Muskerry and East Kerry to drop in for the kind of gathering that has put Aubane on the map.
“Anybody that comes to Aubane enjoys themselves; our set dancing continues to thrive, and given the success of the Afternoon Tea Dance, we plan for a similar event in the New Year”, said John.
In between the dancing, visitors savoured a welcome cuppa thanks to the hospitality of the hosts.
Meanwhile Aubane Social Club is planning a hectic schedule to the end what’s been a fantastic year.
Its annual Christmas Morning climb to Mushera will support the Irish Community Air Ambulance Service base at Rathcoole.
