WALK IN DONERAILE PARK

Last Sunday saw a great turnout for the very first memory walk in aid of Alzeimers Ireland. Even in these unusual times it is great to see outdoor events like walks, being done safely and in adherence with all the guidelines. Of course like all things outdoors in Ireland, having the weather is a great place to start and the weather last Sunday was beautiful. Big thank you to the walkers of all ages that participated in the 5km walk and raised much needed funds which will be of huge benefit to the 55,000 people living with Dementia in Ireland at present.

It is worth noting that eleven people are diagnosed with dementia every day in our country alone. 4,000 people in Ireland living with Dementia are under the age of 65 years old. Big thanks to Paulina Breen, Pat Drumm & Una O Riordan Cremin for helping organise the day. Thanks to the Arch gift shop in Doneraile and to Mairead Dillon from ASI for joining and giving a lovely talk to set the walkers on their way. Most of all, thanks and congratulations to Sinead, Michael & family for organising this walk and looking forward to the next one.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

Works are ongoing upgrading the community centre. You may have already noticed that the whole building has been painted and looks much cleaner & better as a result. Indoor work will start this week.

This work will include upgrade of meeting rooms and kitchen area’s and much needed upgrade of all of the lighting throughout the centre. This will add greater efficiency to the running of the centre, reducing costs for us and doing our bit to reduce the environmental impact. We ask that any users of the community centre be patient while the works are ongoing.

VILLAGE RENEWAL

Huge thanks to the village renewal committee on their ongoing work throughout the village. Flowerbeds and hanging baskets everywhere you look. There has also been much painting completed in the last few weeks. It is absolutely great to see the village looking so well. If anyone is interested in helping out in this effort you can contact any member of the village renewal committee, or the details below.

SUPPORT LOCAL

As the country has moved to the next phase of reopening we would ask everyone to remember to support local business. Remember that many small companies have had to close for months and most of these employ local people. Now that they are reopening we should all support them as they are essential to rural life.

CONDOLENCES

Kilbrin community would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Bridget Madden Liscarroll. May she rest in peace.
