Planet Earth Live

The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - FOOD & DRINK - Nigel Andrew

Julia Bradbury (pictured) and Richard Hammond present a live wildlife event that’s hugely ambitious, even for the BBC Natural History Unit. The aim is to combine the stunning cinematography we’ve come to expect from Frozen Planet and the like with the intimate live filming techniques of Springwatch and Big Cat Live. The series will follow real-life animal dramas as they unfold around the world, through the eventful month of May. Richard Hammond will be in southern Kenya, where he gets the chance to follow the pride of lions made famous by Big Cat Diary, while Julia Bradbury will be getting close to the black bears of Minnesota and following migrating grey whales on the Pacific coast. Prepare to be amazed. Sunday, 7.50pm, BBC1.
