The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - REAL LIFE -

1 I was named Glenn after my uncle’s fiancée – they never married because my uncle died in World War II but she remained a dear friend of the family. It’s usually a man’s name, so it does cause confusion at times! 2 When I was little, I was very, very shy, but I have learned to overcome it. I still don’t like going into a room full of people that I don’t know, but now I ask them questions so they talk and I don’t have to. 3 I’m a terrible shopper – I don’t care about fashion and the whole process of figuring out what to wear to public events just intimidates me. Actors are supposed to be fashion plates, and I resent it. 4 Animals are a big part of my life. I grew up in the countryside surrounded by animals and now I have dogs, cats, horses, fish, mice... If you come over to our house you’ll leave it covered in animal hair! 5 When I think of my granny, I think of the mink stole she wore everywhere. I don’t wear fur myself because it doesn’t feel right, but I wouldn’t criticise anyone else for it – if only in memory of her.
