10.25PM, RTÉ TWO The sec­ond episode of this se­ries ex­am­in­ing the his­tory of Ir­ish soc­cer looks at the years be­tween 1930 and 1980, a pe­riod which saw Ire­land fail­ing to qual­ify for ma­jor tour­na­ments, but do­mes­tic foot­ball boom­ing. Wil­liam Shat­ner, of Star Trek fame, is this week’s guest host, and those of us who en­joyed his bril­liant comic act­ing in Bos­ton Le­gal will be look­ing for­ward to a treat. The guest panel­lists are Char­lie Brooker and Andy Hamil­ton.

9PM, CH4 Chil­dren make up 25 per cent of all pa­tients seen at King’s Col­lege A&E, and, in this sec­ond in­stal­ment, the fo­cus is on them – and on emer­gency medicine trainee Matt who, at 27, is the youngest and new­est re­cruit to the team. food fights to the mix and dis­as­ter is guar­an­teed in this new episode.

8.30PM, RTÉ ONE Leonora works in a care home in Dublin’s Blan­chard­stown to sup­port her four chil­dren and ex­tended fam­ily liv­ing in the Philip­pines. We hear about her daily strug­gle to make enough money to keep her fam­ily go­ing.

8.30PM, BBC1 Join­ing team cap­tains Lee Mack and David Mitchell tonight are Bradley Walsh, Josie Lawrence, Sarah Mil­li­can and Huw Ed­wards – a promis­ing (and co­me­dian-heavy) line-up for the re­li­ably funny panel show.

9PM, BBC2 New se­ries ex­plor­ing the his­tory of Bri­tain, fo­cus­ing on par­tic­u­lar places and, above all, on the peo­ple. Michael Woods starts by trav­el­ling to a vil­lage where the lo­cals are par­tic­i­pat­ing in a com­mu­nity dig.

9.05PM, RTÉ TWO Frank finds out about Ian and Mickey’s re­la­tion­ship. Mean­while, Jody and Sheila de­cide to look af­ter Grammy who is dy­ing, and when Lip says he wants to leave school, Fiona tells him about her plans to go back to study.

10.05PM, RTÉ TWO Vince is still reel­ing from Ertz’s sui­cide as he heads to the po­lice sta­tion to give a state­ment, and things get worse for him when he dis­cov­ers that he’ll have to take a blood test be­cause drugs were found at the scene.

10.35PM, RTÉ TWO Jackie dis­cov­ers that Bill has no pills when she vis­its him at his diner. He sug­gests that she call into him at his apart­ment later that evening if she’s re­ally des­per­ate. Mean­while, two drunk school­girls turn up in the ER.
