BB MANIA

Barely a year on our shelves and it seems women are bonkers for blemish balm, or BB, creams! The US consumer research analyst NPD Group has reported that eight out of 10 beauty shoppers like products that offer multiple benefits, and that rises to just over nine in 10 among BB cream buyers. The top five benefits people expect from a BB cream are: naturallooking coverage (52%), moisturises/ hydrates skin (47%), nourishes or treats skin (42%), provides SPF sunscreen protection (42%), and improves skin texture (38%). Of the women surveyed, 77% said they would purchase a BB cream again. Based on this first year’s success, it seems BB creams are here to stay. Expect more to appear on beauty counters soon!

IT-NAILS

You’ve heard of It-bags. Now there are It-nails! The hippest nail wraps touring the planet at present are called Lake Placid, named after the hometown of soulful singer Lana Del Rey, and they can be accessorised with a designer bag devised with the star in mind! Here’s the background story: Mulberry created a bag for Lana Del Rey tipped to outsell the Alexa, created for Alexa Chung. To celebrate, they asked nail technician to the stars Zoe Pocock to design a nail wrap. Zoe, Mike Pocock and Ciaté boss Charlotte Knight own the company Nail Rock and it was Mike who did Adele’s amazing Louboutin Manicure on Grammies night. The hip brand is in a league of its own for nail, eye and lip wraps, and they cater to all the A-listers. The Lake Placid wraps are on tour now as the handbag visits Mulberry counters from NYC to Korea, and the Nail Rock guys are thinking of adding the design to their permanent line.
