SIX HIGHLIGHTS FOR WHAT

The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - SEVEN DAYS -

If you want great grub.... MARTIN AND PAUL’S SURF ’N’ TURF Wednesday, 8pm, RTÉ One

Each week, two chefs, one with a passion for fish, the other for red meat, travel to a location in Ireland where they cook up two separate dishes. Martin Shanahan will be cooking the fish dishes, while Paul Flynn will prepare the meat. The locals then judge who’s the winner.

If you want good cooking – with actors... RIVER COTTAGE: THREE GO MAD Wednesday, 8pm, Ch4

In this one-off special, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall gives a food and cookery masterclass to Keeley Hawes, Felicity Kendal and Philip Glenister (what would Gene Hunt say?). It’s a lot of fun, and the dishes they create look very appetising.

If you want an eyeopening experiment... WHEN I GET OLDER Wednesday, 9pm, BBC1

In this first of a two-parter, Gloria Hunniford, John Simpson (right), Lesley Joseph and Tony Robinson move in with less fortunate pensioners to discover what their lives are like. On Thursday, they sample life in a care home. It makes for sad and salutary viewing.
