Comeback Corner

The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - FOOD & DRINK -

John Cleese

is best known as Basil Fawlty (right) from the hugely successful Fawlty Towers back in the 70s, and his sitcom appearances since have been few. His most recent was as Lyle Finster in Will & Grace in 2003- 4, but he returns to TV this week as therapist Dr Grant in Whitney – a fictionalised version of the life of US comedienne Whitney Cummings (left, with Cleese). The 72-year-old, once a member of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, has performed in stage shows in recent years, including The Alimony Tour, which he put on to help pay for his divorce from third wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger. Whitney, Tuesday, 9pm, Comedy Central.
