Hollywood star Jane Fonda’s TV roles are about as rare as snow in Los Angeles. She last acted on the small screen in the US sitcom 9 To 5 (right) – shown here on UTV – in 1982. The 74-year- old actress, twice an Oscar winner, marks the 30th anniversary of that last TV appearance by debuting this week in The Newsroom (left), Sky Atlantic’s drama about a fictional cable news network. She plays Leona Lansing, the all-powerful CEO of the network who blows in to town with plans to relieve at least one of her staff of their jobs. Jane will appear at regular intervals during the remaining episodes. The Newsroom, Tuesday, 10pm, Sky Atlantic.
