From the Crossroads motel to Eastenders’ Queen Vic

The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - SEVEN DAYS -

When Patrick attended the funeral of an old drinking buddy recently, he was apprehensive about seeing his friend’s wife, Joy, after so many years. Despite the passing of time, there was clearly still no love lost between the pair. Lucky for the ageing Romeo his friend Cora was there to fight his corner, as she tried to convince the hostile widow that Patrick was no longer the boozing womaniser of old. But just what lengths is Cora prepared to go to in order to change Joy’s mind? The role of the disapproving Joy is played by former Family Affairs actress Carolyn Jones, whose soap career started with her stint as ‘tart with a heart’ Sharon Metcalfe in the much lampooned English Midlands-based Crossroads.
