Sky’s fan­tasy se­ries is lots of fun, mix­ing drama with some great mo­ments of hu­mour. In tonight’s episode, there’s a great deal of black magic in the air, as Taryn (Ir­ish ac­tress Orla Brady, right) sets a trap for Sin­bad, who has re­turned to Basra to res­cue his granny.

The Rose of Tralee re­mains one of RTÉ’s most pop­u­lar pro­grammes of the year. And tonight, Dáithí Ó Sé, who re­cently mar­ried for­mer New Jersey Rose Rita Talty, re­turns for an­other stag­ing of the event (won last year by Tara Tal­bot, right) live from the Dome.

If you want a fas­ci­nat­ing true story... THE QUEEN’S MOTHER IN LAW Tues­day, 9pm, Ch4

This doc­u­men­tary charts the sad, but ul­ti­mately ful­filled life of a re­mark­able woman – Prince Philip’s late mother (El­iz­a­beth II’s mother-in-law) Princess Alice, who turned her back on royal life, de­voted her­self to oth­ers, and be­came a nun.
