9PM, BBC2 This mag­nif­i­cent five-part adaptation of a quar­tet of nov­els by Ford Ma­dox Ford – bril­liantly scripted by Tom Stop­pard – be­gins in the dy­ing days of Ed­war­dian Eng­land, where York­shire landowner Christo­pher Ti­et­jens is locked in a wretch­edly un­happy mar­riage.
