Now’s the time to SPRING INTO STYLE!
After a rather chilly start to the year we can now finally look forward to spring, even if it’s a case of better late than never. In winter, we take a lot of beauty shortcuts. When it’s cold out, we socialise less, so why bother with fake tan or nail polish? It’s too much effort. But spring gives us the perfect opportunity to get back into a beauty routine. Easy and instantly rewarding, these quick fixes will lift your look with minimum effort...
Radiance, glow, call it what you will — if you haven’t got it naturally, fake it. Mimic a dewy finish by mixing one third highlighting fluid into your regular foundation. Armani’s Fluid Sheer (€42.69, 12 shades) is perfect for this trick. After mixing, apply to the face with a foundation brush for a natural finish.
A light-reflecting liquid concealer, like YSL Touche Éclat (€35, seven shades) is a must-have. Use it to paint over lines and gently pat into place. The light-reflecting particles lessen the look of facial creases, especially nose-to-mouth lines and crow’s feet. Light-reflective concealer can also give a better pout. Before applying lip- stick, run the concealer along the upper edge of your lip line and lightly pat. This colour lift makes your mouth appear more pronounced.
Illuminated skin should be matched by sparkling eyes. Perk up your peepers with a nude liner along the inner rim of the lower lids. Rimmel’s Scandal’Eyes Waterproof Nude Liner (€4.95) instantly opens the eyes, making you look well rested. Emphasise your eyes further by curling the lashes before applying mascara; try Tweezerman’s Classic curler (€15.50).
Add some volume to clean or next-day hair with a dry shampoo (Batiste, €2.49) or volume powder ( L’Oréal Super Dust, €14.95) to get great root lift. For extra shine, smooth some natural oil through the ends to banish frizz; try The Body Shop’s Shea Beautifying Oil (€15).
Don’t ignore your nails. This season’s big trend is the nude nail and it covers all neutral tones, from light cream to mushroom. Sally Hansen’s Shell We Dance (€8.95) is a universally flattering shade against pale skin.
So, make these small changes now to lift your look in time for the warmer weather to come!
