PIERS MORGAN

The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - RADIO WEEK -

It’s the Masters golf tournament this week in Augusta, and the reigning champion Bubba Watson agreed to give me another exclusive interview. He gave me one last year, when everyone wanted him after his victory, because, and I quote him exactly: ‘I loved what a p***k you were on America’s Got Talent!’

This time, we spoke by satellite link — he from my New York studio, me in Los Angeles. And we had a great time. Suspiciously good, in fact, given Bubba’s known as one of the great pranksters in world sport.

Sure enough, he later tweeted a photograph of him sitting on MY chair, in MY office, smirking, and clutching a handwritten sign saying: ‘PIERS IS STILL A P***K!’

‘I got bombarded by global outpourings of

love and gratitude from Justin’s Beliebers’

of plastic surgery they’ve subjected themselves to in the false pursuit of eternal youth. I’ve been genuinely shocked by a few famous female faces who’ve sat down opposite me, such has been the alarming frozen- hell horror of their heads.

But conversely, I’m sometimes equally stunned in a good way. Having breakfast at Urth Caffe in Beverly Hills — the one made legendary by the TV show Entourage — a woman tapped me on the shoulder.

‘Piers, it’s so nice to see you!’ she smiled. ‘ Thank you for what you’re doing on guns.’ She was tall, blonde, extremely attractive, and very familiar. We chatted for a few minutes, and it suddenly dawned on me that I was talking to Christie ‘Uptown Girl’ Brinkley, arguably the greatest supermodel of them all. I got home and discovered that Christie will be 60 next year. She doesn’t look a day over 45, and it all looked pretty natural to me.
