For their 400 direct sellers across Ireland, Avon’s shock departure from our shores last month was the end of an era. But as one door closes, another opens, as they say, because another direct-selling opportunity has come along. Famed organic brand Neal’s Yard has had a small retail presence in Ireland for a number of years, but that is about to change as they are bringing their direct-selling model to Ireland. At the moment they have 5,000 consultants working in the UK, with another 3,000 in the US, and now Irish women can join the team. Neal’s Yard’s natural produce is handmade in their eco-factory in Dorset, southwest England. Gems include their facial oils and baby range but the collection is comprehensive and keenly priced for such high quality. To find out more, visit ie.nyrorganic.com. For almost a decade, Belfast brand He-Shi has consistently produced some of the finest fake tans in an increasingly oversupplied sector. Using a natural self-tanning ingredient, their olive-toned tans leave more cheaply made orangehued versions in the shade. Now, after three years of research and development, He-Shi is launching a premium, natural skincare brand, Skinician, with four distinct, colour- coded ranges — anti-ageing, body, oil control and hydrating. Prices range from €12.50-€55 (most products are around the €20 mark); visit he-shi.eu. Part of the impressive angelica and iris range to correct and perfect blemish-prone skin, this BB cream gives skin a flawless finish while working on those pesky spots. Hydrating the skin is a major focus of this cream but skin-clogging ingredients have been eliminated. The BB comes in two shades — Light and Medium — while a built-in SPF 30 protects the skin from UV damage. A top BB for oilier skin types.

Luminous, youthful skin free from redness and discolouration is the objective behind Vichy’s Idealia range. In a study by Vichy of 200 women across four continents and four ethnicities, 80 per cent of those aged of 30 to 50 were concerned greatly by dark spots, which Idealia works to correct daily. This BB fits in nicely with the range — a mix of SPF 25, mineral pigments and a Kombucha/Ceylon tea blend to brighten and improve dull skin.

Available in Medium and Dark, this oil-free BB is suitable for all skin types. Moisturising for a comfortable finish, and skin-protecting with an SPF 30, it also has an anti-pollution factor derived from Rose Apple Leaf Extract, perfect for city wear. Shiseido fans who love their unbeatable foundations and superior sun care will love this hybrid solution!
