John Gordon Sinclair
was just 19 when he starred in Bill Forsyth’s hugely successful small-budget 1981 Scottish movie Gregory’s Girl, as love- struck schoolboy Gregory. Regular TV work followed, notably in sitcoms Hot Metal (1986) and An Actor’s Life For Me (1991) but it’s been more than three years since his last TV role, in an episode of sitcom Rab C Nesbitt (right, top) in 2010. Now 51, and married with two daughters, he returns to our screens as Inspector Welch (left) in the latest Miss Marple mystery, Greenshaw’s Folly. John’s debut novel, Seventy Times Seven, was published last year.
