This new, fea­ture-length doc­u­men­tary marks the 25th an­niver­sary of the Piper Alpha oil rig disas­ter, which claimed 167 lives and left just 61 sur­vivors. Some of those who lived through the ter­ri­ble ex­plo­sion and its fiery af­ter­math tell their sto­ries, many for the first time, and re­veal how their lives were changed for ever.

The Mur­der Trial

Filmed over six weeks in a Scot­tish High Court, this fea­ture-length doc­u­men­tary fol­lows a trial from start to fin­ish. It is, in fact, a re­trial, af­ter the orig­i­nal con­vic­tion – the ac­cused was jailed for mur­der­ing his wife – was quashed. A re­mark­able view of the jus­tice sys­tem in ac­tion.
