DDuring her five years in Albert Square, Gita KaKapoor seemed to face one domestic crisis afafter another. A heavily pregnant Gita first ararrived in Walford, in 1993, to join her feckless huhusband Sanjay. True to form, her other half, a gagambling addict, was nowhere to be seen wwhen she went into labour with their daughter anand just months later it was revealed he was hahaving an affair with his wife’s sister. But the couple’s greatest relationship stumbling block came about when Gita was unfaithful and, as a result, later gave birth to a baby boy, forcing the troubled pair to leave the Square in shame when their marriage woes were revealed in the local press. Actress Shobu Kapoor is currently playing another strong mother figure as Mrs Khan in the BBC comedy Citizen Khan.
