THE CHAMPAGNE FACIAL

Champagne is one highlighter shade that looks good on everyone, so try it for a festive take on your regular make-up. Highlighters are available in cream and powder formulations; the former perhaps is more easy to control but the latter can work better for oily skin. Areas to focus on are the top of the cheekbones, temples and over the brow bones. Your highlighter might come in a wand with a brush, or a tube, so work with the brush or fingertips to lightly add a touch of radiance to the skin. If you are brushing on a powder variety, dip into the highlighter, tap on the back of the hand to remove any excess, then lightly sweep onto the skin.

SAVING YOUR SOLES

You wouldn’t usually read much about GAA on my page. Well, you wouldn’t ever, except that Dublin GAA star Eamon Fennell might just save your soles this party season. Entrepreneurial Eamon’s clever Sole Sister Flats are the handbag musthaves for switching into when heels are taking their toll. Simple, folded slip-on pumps, they come in a carry bag for convenience (this folds out too for toting heels home). Available in a number of colours and priced just €12, Sole Sister Flats are also perfect for bridal packs. For details, email info@solesisterflats.com. Pick up a pair at McCabes and Stacks pharmacies and Costello & Costello.

LISSOME LEGS

Despite the chilly temperatures of December, quite a lot of girls will go bare-legged to parties, so their scrub-moisturise-tan regime remains as diligent as though it were July! Happily, leading Irish wax brand Waxperts have just launched their first retail product to combat those annoying little bumps that appear on the lower legs after shaving or waxing. The Ingrown Hair Pads contain salicylic acid, panthenol and rosemary to slough away dead skin cells and keep the skin smooth and free of bumps: perfect for lower legs on show. A tub costs €7.99 for 40 pads; get stockist information from info@waxperts.ie or tel: 01 214 0757. Perfect for a stocking filler or gift for a girl who loves her make-up, Great Lash is the iconic mascara from Maybelline. Created in 1971, the familiar pink and green-clad lash liquid has been the inspiration behind many other mascaras. Here, for a great €14.99, Great Lash is paired with Gel Liner, an intense black gel that lasts 24 hours and comes with its own brush. A great gift.

Divine Nights is MAC’s Christmas collection and it’s a disco delight full of shimmering shades for eyes and face, with bolts of bold colour for lips. There is something for everyone, and this blush with gold highlighter section is fabulous for festive make-up. Another must-see is the Raven Kohl Liner, a black gel eye pencil with purple/red pigments.

Are you a ‘leave it to the last minute’ type when it comes to gift shopping? Well, why go out at all when you can order someone this monthly box of treats? It’s no cop-out: every month Glossybox delivers a luxury package containing five deluxe samples to the person’s door. The products come from high-end ranges, and you choose from a three, six or 12-month subscription. Super!
