SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

As most women know, it’s not just teenagers who experience enlarged pores, excess oil and spots. Poor cleansing, stress and hormone fluctuations can be to blame. But you don’t have to resort to the spotclearing products of your teens as Estée Lauder has created the Clear Difference system to correct oily skin issues. The Targeted Blemish Treatment (€34) is a roller ball liquid that diminishes breakouts as soon as they appear. The Advanced Blemish Serum (€57) is oil-free and lightweight, used on clean skin and followed with an oil-free sunscreen it should help oilier skin look and feel healthier (and spot-free) long term.

IT’S A COVER UP

The world’s leading camouflage corrective make-up has had a makeover. Vichy’s Dermablend is the range to investigate if you want to effectively cover up scars, birthmarks, acne, tattoos or vitiligo. The original full cover cream foundation, setting powder and concealer remain part of the range, but they are joined now by Total Body Corrective Foundation SPF 15, €25 in three shades, Compact Cream Foundation SPF30 €24.50 in five shades. The range is suitable for all skin types including sensitive. Ask at your local Vichy pharmacy for a colour match and application demonstration.

BUFF BEAUTY

With summer on our doorstep there is a renewed interest in exfoliation – smoother skin takes fake tan more evenly and looks more radiant. New for 2014 from Indeed Labs is the Facial Powdered Exfoliator, €24.99 for 75g. This concentrated blend of rice bran powder, bamboo extract, pineapple enzymes and red algae offers superior skin resurfacing on the face, neck and chest – although if you’re in the shower you could extend the exfoliating to the arms and legs, too. To activate, shake a little powder into the palms, add a little water or cleanser and get scrubbing! Available from boots.ie. For what it’s worth, in all the years that self-tan has been available, Clarins’ products have always offered a really natural looking tan shade – no orange hues here. This new self-tan liquid allows you to custom blend your colour. You can add a few (or more) drops of tan to your moisturiser in the morning or evening. Perfect if you have dry skin, you get the golden glow with the comfort from your usual cream. Budget beauty at its best, surely there’s no other tan brand that can beat St Moriz on price? For just €7 this Mini Collection contains a scrub, body lotion and tan in light, medium or dark. The 100ml bottle sizes are not as ‘mini’ as you might expect, but will still pass airport security.
