Ascheri Barbera d’Alba
Piemonte. If Italy had a food capital, this would be it, the home of truffles and glorious wines. Ascheri is a Rolls-Royce kind of producer, a very posh name and this dark Barbera has the usual backbone, cherry notes but with extra depth, vanilla and smoke. Not a wine I’d like to get in a blind tasting. Was €18.99.
