CORONATION STREET

The Irish Mail on Sunday - TV Week - - SOAP WATCH -

My word, Corrie can drag out a storyline. This week sees the continuing deadly-dull saga of Tyrone, Fiz, Jason and the botched loft conversion. Also rumbling on and boring the pants off everyone is the sorry tale of Andrea’s creepy ex Neil. He threatens to top himself and Lloyd races to the house to check if he’s OK. What a shame Jason didn’t do a loft conversion there – then the ceiling could have fallen in and seen off Neil and Lloyd in one hit.

Released from hospital and back in prison (or ‘the big house’ as Jim insists on calling it), Peter finds himself on the receiving end of some threatening behaviour from Jim (below left), so he does, who fears he is about to be exposed as the supplier of prison hooch.

And their relationship isn’t improved by bigmouth Tracy telling Steve his dad was the one who gave booze to Peter. This causes Steve to renege on his promise to tak take Amy to visit Jim. That’s a great sha shame because the way she’s going, she she’ll fit right in.

M Meanwhile, it’s a race against time to sav save Eccles as Amy is still making out tha that he bit her, so she can get the dog de destroyed – knowing that it will break her co cousin Simon’s heart. And ‘Muddy’ starts he her new job at Underworld and impresses Ca Carla with her work ethic. Given the rest of Carla’s workforce spend their entire tim time gossiping and going on cake runs, I imagineim imagine Carla is very easily pleased. It’s the 25th anniversary of the soap but some things never change in Carrigstown. Yes, there’s more jealousy, suspicion and heartache this week.

Dan and Yvonne (below) are enjoying their new home, but of course there’s always something around the corner to spoil things.

This time, it’s Robbie who is the party-pooper. His resentment of Dan grows when Dan is unwilling to help him. On Tuesday Carol is suspicious when she discovers Robbie’s managed to get Dan to do him a favour. On Wednesday, Dan discovers that Robbie has set him up, only for Carol to come to the rescue on Thursday.

Christy’s attempt to make amends with Seán leads to a calamitous accident this week. On Tuesday, Seán and Christy have a row, which leads to another setback for Christy.

ALFIE’S PLAN GOES UP IN FLAMES

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Remember these plots that had us hooked?

Gangster Andy Hunter marries Sam Mitchell (above), despite loveable loser Minty Peterson’s 11th-hour attempt to stop the ceremony. Minty secretly loves Sam and has found out that Andy is using her to try and fleece her family.

Mandy and Butch Dingle (above) have their marriage annulled, leaving her free to plan her next wedding to Paddy Kirk. Having married her cousin Butch for money, Mandy had never been able to get true love Paddy out of her mind.
