In the last decade there has been a seismic shift in hair care. In the early noughties we were obsessed with silicone for split ends and increased shine, today we know that natural oils offer similar shine but with better conditioning for healthier hair in the long term. It started out with using single oils on the hair lengths and now there are different formulations designed for specific hair types, Garnier, L’Oréal and Kérastase being the brands to check out. Choose to include oils in your routine via shampoo, conditioner or masque (L’Oreal Mythic Oil range, €16.30- €21.40) or as a post-drying treatment oil with Garnier’s Ultimate Blends (€10.99) or Kérastase Elixir Ultime oil blends, €34.

There’s a new beauty destination in one of your favourite Dublin stores – in Penneys on Mary St where Love Beauty will open its salon doors to offer affordable beauty treatments with a product line to follow in 2015. What’s on offer? Expect lots of lash applications and tinting, gel and acrylic nails, threading and brow treatments. Prices are great – a full set of acrylic tips costs €22, while an eyebrow and eyelash tint combination is just €12. It’s pedal to the metal for autumn, metallics are everywhere. Metallure is a full collection from Catrice which includes two marbled shadows, luminous bronzer, three shades for nails, two for lips, and this multi-purpose liquid. The shade is Dazzling Dark, a black with silver shimmer running through it. Thanks to its duo applicator it is used as liner on lids and as a topcoat over black on lashes for an extra bit of sparkle. There’s something very chic about the squared canister packaging on these new Moisture Stains as Revlon moves away from the usual cylindrical tubes. And performance-wise, they live up to their promises – you get lips drenched in highlypigmented colour, no stickiness, and moisture with added vitamin E and aloe vera. When I heard of this new gel colour from the brand I couldn’t wait to try it. It offers up to one week chip-free colour, two coats of colour set like gel once the top coat is applied and cured by natural light (no UV/LED needed), and it’s cleaned away with regular polish remover. This hot shade is Wine Stock, and 17 more are available. The top coat also costs €9.99, or €14.99 for duo packs with a colour and top coat.
