I tasted this grand cru claret in Bordeaux this sum­mer and was re­minded of how good red Bordeaux is sub­tle and nim­ble on its feet. A fine Pauil­lac, it has oo­dles of ripe black­cur­rant, pen­cil box and smoke on the nose, a de­cep­tively light pres­ence on the palate and then – bang! Proper, old-fash­ioned fine claret.
