Robots (2005) U 1.30PM, CH4 From the mak­ers of Ice Age, this fun sci-fi an­i­ma­tion ticks all the right boxes with its mar­vel­lously re­alised tin-can char­ac­ters and a jolly tone. Ewan Mc­Gre­gor and Robin Wil­liams pro­vide the voices of Rod­ney Cop­per­bot­tom and his friend, Fen­der Pin­wheel (above).

School Of Rock (2003) PG 5.10PM, TV3 Jack Black is per­fectly cast in this fun fam­ily com­edy. He stars as an as­pir­ing rock star who poses as a sup­ply teacher to make ends meet, and sets about turn­ing his new pupils into his per­sonal back­ing band.

Thor (2011) 12 6.50PM, CH4 Aus­tralian hunk Chris Hemsworth’s grounded Norse god has his name on the ti­tle, but Brit Tom Hid­dle­ston, as his trou­ble­some adop­tive brother, Loki (right), won le­gions of ad­mir­ers in this first film, di­rected with flair by Ken­neth Branagh. The vil­lains are the im­pres­sively chill­ing Frost Gi­ants, though Loki has a go, too.

The Hang­over Part II (2011) 15 9PM, TV3 Three friends ar­range an al­co­hol-free stag week­end in Bangkok, but things do not go ac­cord­ing to plan. Com­edy se­quel, with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis.

The Ses­sions (2012) 15 12 MID­NIGHT, CH4

PRE­MIERE Wry com­edy drama based on the mem­oirs of Mark O’Brien, a witty and charm­ing dis­abled writer who set out to lose his vir­gin­ity to a sex sur­ro­gate (He­len Hunt, above). John Hawkes is ex­cel­lent as O’Brien in a film that is hu­mor­ous and heart­felt with­out be­ing mawk­ish.
