Run­ning For Her Life (2016) PG 3.15PM, CH5 Mum Ali­son (Claire For­lani) hires per­sonal trainer Laura Stevens (Michelle Nolden) to help her to hone her fit­ness for stren­u­ous triathlon events. Laura’s meth­ods are harsh and con­tro­ver­sial, and she soon starts to run – and to ruin – Ali­son’s life, not just her body.

The Lin­coln Lawyer (2011) 15 9PM, MORE4 Matthew McConaughey (above) does good work as au­thor Michael Con­nelly’s smoothtalk­ing at­tor­ney, who works out of his black Lin­coln car. Ryan Phillippe is the client in need of his skills – a rich kid whose pretty face masks trouble.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014) 12 9PM, RTÉ2 Andy Serkis dons the mo­tion cap­ture suit again to play Cae­sar, who now leads a colony of su­per-in­tel­li­gent apes – but can they coex­ist with hu­man sur­vivors of a deadly virus?

Cliffhanger (1993) 15 10PM, 3E Sylvester Stal­lone stars in this en­ter­tain­ing ac­tion thriller as a re­tired moun­tain res­cue ex­pert who is drawn into a bat­tle of wits with a crim­i­nal (John Lith­gow, above) search­ing for a lost for­tune in the Rock­ies.

The Rum Diary (2011) 15 1.55AM, CH4 Hunter S. Thomp­son’s semi­au­to­bi­o­graph­i­cal novel gets a suitably chaotic screen out­ing in the hands of di­rec­tor Bruce Robin­son. Johnny Depp is the de­struc­tive writer tak­ing a job at a news­pa­per in Puerto Rico.
