The China Syndrome (1979) PG 12.35PM, FILM4 Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas are the TV news crew who happen to be filming at a nuclear power plant as a major crisis unfolds. It’s all too plausible, and terrifyingly gripping, with Jack Lemmon as the technician clocking that the dials aren’t reading correctly, and trying to avert a core meltdown.

One of his patients has a code in her memory that the villain wants – doctor Douglas won’t take it lying down.
