‘A miserable, emaciated child...’

THE following is an extract from a Department of Health inspection report of a day nursery in the St. Mary’s Mother and Baby Home run by the Congregation of the Bon Secours Sisters in Tuam in 1947.

All the children’s real names have been blacked out in the copy of the report, apart from that of John Desmond Dolan, whose family obtained the report.
