Colgan emerges after two weeks of lying low

The Irish Mail on Sunday - - FRONT PAGE - By Craig Hughes

MICHAEL Colgan broke cover this weekend but refused to say anything to his alleged victims.

The Irish Mail on Sunday has asked the former Gate director to reply to the allegations against him for the past two weeks, but he has been holed up in his Georgian mansion off Dublin’s Baggot Street.

The MoS tracked Mr Colgan to the Dylan Hotel on Friday, where we asked him if he had anything to say about the claims of harassment and bullying.

A startled Mr Colgan kept a stony silence and zig-zagged out of the hotel, and down back streets, before ducking into a pub to avoid our questions.

The MoS first reported the claims against him two weeks ago when Grace Dyas published a blog about her experience with him at the launch of the Dublin Theatre Festival.

Mr Colgan allegedly said to her, ‘you’ve lost so much weight, I’d almost have sex with you’. When Ms Dyas rebuked him, he allegedly became abusive.

To date, eight women have made accusations against Mr Colgan.

He had been expected to release a statement, but his solicitor did not respond to requests from the MoS over the past two days.
