AS THE competition heats up on Dancing With The Stars, model Alannah Beirne – who was knocked out last week – has revealed she is backing dark horse Deirdre O’Kane to take the glitterball trophy.

Speaking to the Irish Mail on Sunday, the model, 24, says she’s ‘thrilled’ to have made it so far in the competition herself.

Alannah was looking red hot at the third anniversary party of Elle No.5 beauty salon in Celbridge this week. And fresh from her stint on the dancefloor she said that she thinks actress Deirdre will win the series.

‘My money is on Deirdre – there is something about her,’ she said. ‘She is like Aidan in the way she started off alright but has grown and really improved over the series.’

Kildare model Alannah was a late entry to the competition as her colleague Aoife Rose Walsh had to pull out before the show started.

But having danced her way to week nine, Alannah said she was just delighted with her performance.

‘There’s a part that disappointed and a part of me that’s just happy,’ she added. ‘I had a really good run and I’m the type of person that is adventurous and I will jump into this type of thing without any hesitation.

‘It’s like, “Okay, I’ll do and I’ll put my heart and soul into it” and I think I did that week by week.

‘I’m not a great dancer but I was working really, really hard to make sure I performed well and didn’t let my family and friends down – or make a show of myself.

‘I wanted to show who I am because I am a bit weird and goofy at times.’
