Gardaí in appeal for witnesses after father is beaten and left to die in park
THIS is the Romanian father of one who was beaten and left to die in a Dublin park on Friday.
Ioan Artene Bob was found in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght at around 8am with injuries to his chest and body. A passerby saw the wounded man and alerted emergency services.
Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transferring him to Tallaght Hospital where he passed away a short time later.
Gardaí believed from the outset that foul play was involved and treated the investigation as a serious assault or murder.
A post-mortem was carried out by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster, confirming that the man was the victim of an assault which led to his death.
Gardaí immediately launched a murder investigation and have asked witnesses or anyone who knew the victim, or who might have information, to contact gardaí at Tallaght or any Garda station.
Investigators said the 49year-old, whose eight-year-old son and partner live in Romania, worked in the construction industry in Ireland and was employed in the Carrickmines area of south Dublin recently.
He came to Ireland three years ago and was not known to gardaí.
He was last seen on Dublin’s Moore Street on Thursday evening at 8.30pm.
Superintendent Ian Lackey, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘We would appeal to anybody who may have seen him in the Moore Street area of the city centre around that time, or who may have travelled out to Tallaght on public transport.
‘We would also appeal to anybody who may have used the park.
‘It is a popular amenity in relation to jogging and dogwalking.’
Superintendent Lackey said that anything, even if it seems insignificant, could be of value in the investigation and should be brought to the attention of gardai.
Anyone with information can contact Tallaght Garda station on 01 6666000.
