THE gentlemen with expanding waistlines and receding hairlines with whom I drink in my local pub did not watch the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle yesterday.

But they do support the bride’s father, Thomas Markle, pictured left with his daughter, who has been shamefully mistreated.

Mr Markle deserved better – even if some of Meghan’s siblings define the warning from writer Harper Lee: You can choose your friends but you sho’ can’t choose your family.’
