Carey’s high praise for Carlow
AFTER guiding Carlow IT to a first Fitzgibbon Cup final appearance, he says Carlow’s place in the Leinster roundrobin Championship next year is more than merited after winning the Joe McDonagh Cup.
‘They deserve their chance to go up. They have been putting in the groundwork. They will be a match for most teams in Leinster. Take them for granted at your peril.
‘I have been a slight critic of Carlow for years because I live so close to them and know they have fantastic hurlers. But they could never pull it together as a county team. Yet as a club could beat any team in Kilkenny.
Colm Bonnar (right) is a passionate guy. Has been around the club scene in Kilkenny with Ballyhale Shamrocks, and with Waterford IT and various counties.
‘Any county with Colm Bonnar is on to a winner.’
