RTÉ marks cen­te­nary

RTÉ will be broad­cast­ing events to mark the cen­te­nary of the end of the First World War from 9.45am to­day.

David McCul­lagh will present live TV cov­er­age of the Ar­mistice com­mem­o­ra­tion events at Glas­nevin Ceme­tery and the Arc de Tri­om­phe in Paris on RTÉ One and RTÉ News Now.

This will be fol­lowed by live cov­er­age of the Cen­te­nary Re­mem­brance Sun­day Ser­vice from St Macaratin’s Cathe­dral, En­niskillen at 11.45am on RTÉ One and RTÉ Ra­dio 1 on long­wave.

Ear­lier, a spe­cial edi­tion of John Bow­man’s ar­chives pro­gramme on RTÉ Ra­dio 1 at 8.30am will be fol­lowed by a pro­gramme fea­tur­ing writ­ers ex­plor­ing the theme of re­mem­brance at 9.15am.

The His­tory Show spe­cial on RTÉ Ra­dio 1 at 6pm will look at the Ir­ish­men who fought in the war. This will be fol­lowed by a Po­etry Show spe­cial at 7.30pm, pre­sented by Olivia O’Leary.
